Speaking in the open session of Islamic Republic of Iran's Parliament, Caretaker of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade Hossein Modarres Khiabani stressed: "One of the ministry's tasks in the last quarter was to supply raw materials for factories and the manufacturing sector, which was resumed after a month-long hiatus due to currency restrictions."

He went on saying: "The ministry has a significant share in the country's economy, about 40 to 45 percent of GDP, more than 33 percent of employment and 75 percent of non-oil exports belong to this ministry."

Pointing out that the Coronavirus has influenced more than 33% of the world's trade, the Minister said: "The first part of our programs is the jump in production based on domestic capacity, the second part is to finalize unfinished projects, and the third part is export development and import control," adding that "Our focus on non-oil exports is on 15 neighboring countries, and we are looking to boost trade and exports to China and India, while 60 percent of our exports go to 15 neighboring countries.

"In the area of imports, essential goods and raw materials of factories and manufacturing enterprises were decided to be the only items that should be imported", according to Modarres Khiabani.

"We had non-oil exports to neighboring countries, and exported to Afghanistan more than twice as much as for the same period last year," the MP reiterated. 212/ 104
