The Palestinian resistance groups based in Gaza, Hamas, and other Islamic movements, launched an operation called Al-Aqsa Flood, on October 7, against the Israeli regime which was a great shock to the regime.

Iran PressCommentary: Saturday's attack carried out on the occupied territories was an unprecedented operation with different intelligence methods and military tactics, with new arms being applied against the Israeli regime.

The Palestinian forces' innovation and bravery in the operation disclosed new aspects of opportunities for the Resistance Front while making clear the opposite side's points of weakness.

The Palestinian resistance groups' attacks were carried out through land, air, and sea, covering all the areas around the Gaza Strip, storming into 50 Zionist regime's military bases as well as their settlements around Gaza.

According to the Israeli Ministry of Health, over 500 Zionists have been killed, 1,860 injured and 750 missing.

The surprise principle was fully observed in the operation which was one of the important features of the operation which became clear with the Israeli regime's lack of military readiness to counter the attack. The videos released from some Israeli checkpoints and bases, show the Zionist soldiers being clearly surprised and killed in the clashes.

The Chief of the Middle East Office in Brookings Think Tank admits to the fact that the readiness of Al-Qassam Brigades, the military branch of Hamas, was astonishing: "Massive Hamas surprise attack on Israel Saturday morning: Dozens of Hamas militants infiltrating Israeli towns and villages under the cover of thousands of rockets fired from Gaza."

The Wall Street Journal called the operation a great surprise and described it as a historic failure for the Israeli army and intelligence agencies.

Brian Katulis, a senior member of the Middle East think tank in Washington said that Operation Al-Aqsa Flood was surely a planned operation which was could not be carried out overnight and that it was surprising that either Israel or any of its partners failed to identify it. He noted that it was hard to come up with such a historic failure.

Hamas, locally made drones for confrontation with Israel

From the military aspect, the Palestinians' use of new equipment was significant. For instance, they deployed quadcopters equipped with shells to hit tanks and other armored vehicles. The use of such a tactic has caused the Israeli Merkava tanks highly vulnerable when attacked from above.

Still, the Palestinian use of heli-gliders to enter the occupied territories around Gaza, which is unprecedented per se. The use of suicide drones, pick-ups and motorcycles, and different kinds of missiles with various ranges and in large numbers all contributed to the significance of the operation and the confusion of the Israeli regime's army.

Commemorating its 36th anniversary of establishment, the Islamic Jihad movement unveiled a new long-range ballistic missile in the parade of its forces on Wednesday, the name of which was not specified.

Based on what was said, Operation Al-Aqsa Flood not only changed the balance between the Palestinian resistance group but also became a turning point in the military and intelligence practices between the two fronts.
