Iran PressMiddle East: Referring to US sanctions against Syria under Caesar's Law, the Syrian foreign minister said the sanctions are an opportunity for Syrian self-sufficiency and deepening cooperation with allies.

Caesar's law was signed in December 2019 by US President Donald Trump against Syria; under the law, the United States plans to tighten sanctions on Damascus by imposing severe sanctions on Syrian institutions and individuals to prevent cooperation between Syria and its allies in rebuilding the country.

Speaking at a news conference on Tuesday, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem said the Cesar law was enacted during the country's victories against terrorists, adding that the Cesar law targeted the livelihoods of Syrian citizens and the return of terrorism to Syria.

Walid al-Muallem noted that the United States will continue to support terrorists, adding that Syria, with the help of its allies, will continue its efforts to provide for the livelihoods of Syrian citizens while fighting terrorists.

The Syrian foreign minister also referred to the Zionist regime's plan to occupy parts of the West Bank and said that Israel's greed in Palestine and the region is boundless.

Al-Muallem stressed that Syria will stand by the Palestinian people and will do its utmost to prevent the Zionist regime from blocking the occupation of parts of the West Bank.

Last April, Israeli regime Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Blue and White Party leader Benny Gantz agreed on to begin annexing large areas of the West Bank to the occupied territories in early July, including the Jordan Valley and all Zionist settlements in the West Bank.
