Iraq (IP)- A group of Iraqi lawmakers has called for the expulsion of US troops from Iraq in accordance with a resolution passed by the Iraqi parliament.

Iran Press/Middle East: Badr Saegh, a member of the Iraqi parliament's Security and Defense Committee, said the Iraqi negotiating team with the United States should be aware that the Iraqi parliament has made an irrevocable decision on the need to expel foreign forces, including US forces.

Hamed al-Musawi, a representative of the Fatah coalition, also stressed that the presence of US troops in Iraq is void and rejected by the Iraqi government and people and that it is  considered as  occupation of Iraqi territory.

Strategic talks between Baghdad and Washington began on June 11 via video conferencing, and future relations between Iraq and the United States are set to be outlined.

The Iraqi parliament approved the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq on January 5, 2020.

Millions of Iraqi people also demanded the expulsion of American troops on January 25 by staging Million-man demonstrations.
