Iran Press/ Iran news: The IRGC's public relations department said in a statement that yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, June 17), two commercial fishing trawlers anchored in the vicinity waters of Chabahar and Konarak in an obvious violation act, were trawling illegally in the native fishing area; they were detained by Imam Ali (AS) Naval Unit in Chabahar.
The seizure of these trawling vessels was carried out by the intelligence of the Marine Basij and the marines of Imam Ali (AS) Naval Base, following the protest of the local fishermen of the Konarak and Chabahar regions, with the judicial order of the Konarak prosecutor.
The seized vessels, which carry more than 80 tons of fish, were taken to the Imam Ali Naval Base of the IRGC Naval Base for legal action.
Iran later seized foreign fishing ships including Chinese at the southwestern province of Sistan and Baluchistan waters who were illegally searching for fish in Chabahar waters by trawler industrial method.
Offshore bottom-fishing method is illegal and can cause a lot of destruction to the natural habitats of the region.
