Iran Press/ Iran news: The Festival with the slogan "Women enlighten" is planned in memory of Shireen Abu Aqleh, the martyr of enlightenment.
Women's issues, including the role of women in social justice, family, women, and resistance media, the correct role model of women, and the role of the media in normalizing violence against women are among the topics discussed.
Yousof Smaeilzadeh, executive secretary of the festival, told reporters on the sidelines of the opening ceremony that 100 active media women from 40 countries are present at the festival.
Smaeilzadeh stated that the festival is being held with the participation of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the Vice President of Women and Family Affairs, and the Mashhad Municipality.
Today, various workshops on the topic of media will be held to exchange experiences between Iranian and foreign journalists regarding women and media.
He added: Numerous tours to visit different places of Mashhad city have been prepared for the attendees of this festival.
The closing ceremony of the Khorsheed International Media Festival will be held late on Saturday.
Shireen Abu Akleh (April 3, 1971 - May 11, 2022) was a prominent Palestinian journalist, who worked at the Qatari international news television network Al Jazeera for 25 years. She was one of the vigorous journalists in the Middle East, who covered news stories concerning Palestinian issues.
On May 11, 2022, she was targeted by Israeli forces and lost her life due to a fatal gunshot wound to the head, while she was covering the reports of the Zionist army's raid into the city of Jenin in the West Bank.
Foreign media ladies entered Mashhad Airport late on Friday, the 7th of October, to participate in the event, and then visited Imam Reza's shrine.
