Iran Press/ Iran news: On the occasion of the World Maritime Day, on Tuesday, Mehrdad Pazrpash said that connecting the Caspian Sea to the Persian Gulf is one of the main plans of the Iranian administration, which will be realized within the 2 months with the opening of the Rasht-Caspian railway.
The North-South International Corridor is the name of the transportation project that started following an agreement reached between India, Iran, and Russia in 2000.
Bazrpash said that despite all sanctions, marine navigation is expanding in Iran and that the country has always adhered to international conventions.
The mentioned corridor is considered a communicative route connecting the European countries, Scandinavia, and Russia with the Persian Gulf, the Indian Ocean, and southeastern Asia.
The Republic of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Oman, Tajikistan, Turkey, and Ukraine joined the corridor agreement later.
