Iran Press/ Iran news: Families of martyrs, artists, writers, aid workers, veterans, and activists of the Holy Defense arena attended the meeting with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khamenei, today (Wednesday) on the eve of the Holy Defense Week.
According to Iran Press, In addition to the presence of some veterans of the Holy Defense in Imam Khomeini's Hussainia, another group of activists of the holy defense in all parts of Iran were present in this meeting through video conference format with all the centers of the provinces.
The Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran then stated: "Securing the country was one of the other achievements of the holy defense. The Holy Defense protected the safeguarded the country from the invasion of others."
"The enemies said that military action was on the table, but nothing happened, and this was one of the achievements of the Holy Defense," His Eminence further noted, adding: "The achievement was that the holy defense expanded our borders. I do not mean geographical boundaries. We do not seek to expand geographical boundaries. However, the Holy Defense expanded other borders. For example, it expanded the border of resistance."
The Leader went on to state: "The armed forces are one of the essential elements of any society, their presence is one of the main elements and without them the society cannot survive. There is no economy, no family peace, and no comfort. The armed forces are a security force and they must be taken care of in different ways."
The Leader elsewhere emphasized: "One of the things that our enemies focus on is harming the value and dignity of the armed forces. I tell the armed forces that the logic of power in Islam is not the logic of transcendence or superiority. In material systems, power means superiority over others. The logic of power in Islam is not transcendence. That is, the stronger you become and the more you increase your strength, the humbler you should be, the more flexible you should be, and the more you should pay attention to God."
All the world backed Saddam in the war on Iran
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that all the world, including Europe, the Soviet Union, the US, and some other countries of the region, supported Saddam to wage war on Iran. Still, it was Iran that got the victory.
Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei recalled that all of the world backed Saddam's regime in its 8-year imposed war on Iran, but the Iranian nation did not lose the country's soil, even for a piece.
He enumerated the achievements of the 8-year Sacred Defense era and stressed the preservation of the Iranian territorial integrity as an important achievement.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that it was during the imposed war on Iran that the Iranian nation discovered its great capabilities, saying: "During the Qajar and Pahlavi eras, we were always told that we are not capable and that world powers can easily remove us from the earth and that we should obey the great powers, while the sacred defense made us discover our own capacity."
The aggressor army of Saddam Hussein's regime, the dead dictator of Iraq, on 31st Shahrivar of 1359, corresponding to 22nd September 1980, started a massive attack against Iran by using various weapons.
The 31st of Shahrivar is the beginning of the holy defense week in Iran's events calendar. In this one week, various ceremonies are held throughout Islamic Iran.
