Iran Press/ Iran news: Fuad Hossein, Iraq's Foreign Minister, arrived in Tehran on Wednesday morning and was officially welcomed by his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in the press conference due to his negotiations over implementing the security agreement signed between the two countries to expel the terrorist elements from Iraqi soil, stressing that the black spot of terrorism must be cleared from the white sheet of Iran-Iraq relations.
He stressed the paramount importance of national security for Iran and appreciated the Iraqi foreign minister's measures about expelling the terrorist and separatist elements from Iraq.
During the meetings held between the Iraqi and Iranian political and security officials, the two sides signed a security agreement and set a deadline to end the presence of the terrorists in northern Iraq. The Iranian FM recalled that Iran and Iraq are at the highest level of relations, including the economic ties.
Iranian Foreign Minister added: "Today, we can announce that Iran and Iraq, as two important neighbors in West Asia, have the highest cooperation."
"The Shalamcheh Basra railway project has been started with the aim of increasing the exchange of goods and tourism with the presence of the Prime Minister of Iraq and the First Vice President of Iran," Iranian FM added.
Amir-Abdollahian said: "Iran is serious about ensuring the country's national security, and we are happy that we received good information from high-ranking Iraqi officials today regarding the removal of terrorist groups from Iran's border and efforts to disarm them within the framework of the security agreement. Giving terrorism even an hour is detrimental to Iran, Iraq, and the region, and this black spot must be removed from the white page of Iran-Iraq relations."
