Iran Press/ Middle East: Hossein Amir-Abdollahian addressed this issue during a press conference in Beirut, responding to a question posed by a Lebanese reporter regarding the potential tension caused by his frequent visits to Lebanon.
Amir-Abdollahian emphasized the privileged and strategic relationship between Tehran and Beirut, highlighting Iran's careful monitoring of developments in Lebanon.
He reiterated Iran's commitment to supporting the axis of resistance, aimed at safeguarding regional security and countering the actions of the Zionist regime.
Furthermore, he commended Lebanon's political leaders and resistance for their dedication to ensuring the country's security throughout recent decades. He acknowledged their ability to tactfully address political issues within Lebanon.
The Iranian Foreign Minister firmly stated that any foreign interference in Lebanon's decision-making process is inappropriate and only serves to further complicate matters.
He clarified that while Iran has never interfered in Lebanon's internal affairs, they will continue to provide strong support to the government, nation, army, and resistance as long as Beirut desires it.
FM: If Lebanon had accepted Iran's offer in the past, Lebanon would now be an exporter of electricity
"Iran welcomes any plan that can resolve Lebanon's energy crisis," said Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
Speaking at a press conference in Beirut, the Foreign Minister added that if the Lebanese cabinet had accepted Iran's electricity offer a decade ago, Lebanon would currently be one of the region's electricity exporters.
The Iranian minister further stated that they have presented suggestions to address Lebanon's electricity crisis and emphasized that the decision lies with the Cabinet of Ministers. Iran is prepared to send engineers to construct a 2,000-megawatt power plant whenever the cabinet makes a decision. Iranian companies have successfully built power plants in neighboring countries, benefiting both sides.
Amir-Abdollahian also addressed political developments in Lebanon, asserting that decisions regarding the president and cabinet establishment are solely within the purview of Lebanese leaders.
Additionally, he discussed recent events in Palestine and revealed his meeting with Palestinian leaders regarding attacks by Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and other Palestinian groups. According to these leaders, Palestinian resistance is currently at its strongest state. They warned that any assassination of Palestinian leaders would shift the regional balance in favor of resistance groups.
Regarding Yemen, the Iranian minister said that Yemeni groups are the ones who make decisions. We have always emphasized that we welcome the establishment of a ceasefire and the lifting of the human blockade of Yemen. I hope that the talks between the Yemenis that are going on will lead to a solution to get out of the war.
He further mentioned the talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia and said: We believe that the talks and agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia have had positive effects in the region, among others.
