Iran Press/ Asia: According to Iran Press, Ezzatullah Zarghami, Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Iran, upon his arrival in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, was welcomed by Aun Chaudhry, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Tourism Affairs, Iran's cultural attaché Ehsan Khazaei. and "Hadi Golriz" the press consultant of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Zarghami is going to meet with some Pakistani officials, including the Pakistani president Arif-ur-Rehman Alvi while participating in the central meeting of tourism ministers of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation
The Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts of Iran will also consult Pakistani officials regarding expanding bilateral cooperation with Pakistan in tourism and strengthening cultural relations between the neighboring countries.
The Issues which are supposed to be discussed in the third edition of D-8 Tourism Summit include the items such as progress in the implementation of the comprehensive strategy of D-8 Tourism from 2020 to 2023, the report of the member countries on the development of travel and tourism industry, the explanation of investment opportunities in Pakistan, and the description of the opportunities of the Islamic tourism market.
Furthermore, the approval of the Islamabad statement on boosting tourism cooperation is also on the agenda.
D-8, also known as Developing-8, is an organization for economic cooperation among the following countries: Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkiye.
This group was formed on June 15, 1997 (25 Khordad 1376) at the suggestion of Necmettin Erbakan (the leader of the Islamic Welfare Party and Prime Minister of Turkiye at the time) in a bid to cement the economic cooperation of the member countries.
