Iran Press/ Iran news: During a press conference in Kermanshah province on Monday, Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi announced that he and his Iraqi counterpart, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, visited four border crossings: Khosravi, Shalamcheh, Chadaba, and Mehran.
Iran's Vahidi added that issues such as gates, passports, health issues, and necessary infrastructures for the Arbaeen procession had been discussed with the Iraqi delegation.
Vahidi added that Iran and Iraq's constructive talks over the Arbaeen pilgrimage reached notable agreements, including removing obstacles and strengthening infrastructures to facilitate the Arbaeen pilgrimage for pilgrims.
Iraq's Al-Shammari announced that a delegation of four Iraqi governors visited the four borders mentioned earlier, reaffirming the agreements between the two countries.
The Iraqi Interior Minister emphasized the importance of ensuring a secure pilgrimage and providing proper services to highlight the significance of the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
This year, on September 6th, 2023, pilgrims will travel to Karbala in central Iraq, located southwest of Baghdad, to participate in Arbaeen's pilgrimage. This event commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (A.S.), the third Imam of Shi'i Muslims and the grandson of the prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
