Tehran (IP) - Ali Akbar Ahmadian, the representative of the Leader and the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, went to South Africa at the invitation of Ms. Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, the Minister of the Presidency of South Africa, to participate in the meeting of national security advisors and secretaries of the BRICS member countries.

Iran PressIran news: During his trip, Ahmadian will have meetings with some of his counterparts. He will also deliver a speech at the meeting of national security advisors and secretaries from BRICS member countries.

The meeting of the national security advisors of BRICS member countries and BRICS Plus under the title "Cyber security review as a developing challenge for global security" will start on Monday, July 24, in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The term BRIC was coined by Goldman Sachs economist Jim O’Neill in 2001 to describe the startling rise of Brazil, Russia, India, and China.

The BRIC powers had their first summit in 2009 in Russia. South Africa joined in 2010.

All BRICS member states have full sovereignty and their foreign political interests and priorities. Mutual respect and mutual benefit are the foundation for dialogue and development within BRICS

Iran and Argentina apply to join the BRICS bloc after the summit in Ashgabat.
