Iran Press/Middle East: Dressed in black, Shia Muslims hold mourning rituals to remember Imam Hussain (PBUH), who was martyred along with his 72 companions in the Battle of Karbala, in southern Iraq, in 680 AD after fighting courageously for justice against thousands of soldiers of the Umayyad caliph, Yazid I.
The mourning ceremony of Hosseini (PBUH) was held simultaneously with the fourth night of Muharram in the village of "Al-Diraz" near Manama, the capital of Bahrain, with the significant presence of Bahraini Shi'a Muslims.
The Hussain (AS) mourners attended the alleys and streets of the Al-Diraz residential area of Manama. They mourned and lamented the oppression of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions in the plain of Karbala.
Every year in Muharram, Bahraini Shi'a Muslims attend the morning ceremony of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions.
