Oshnavieh (IP) - The sweet cherry festival's sixth edition took place in Oshnavieh City, in the West Azerbaijan province of northwestern Iran.

Iran PressIran news: Oshnavieh, known as the cherry capital of Iran, hosts the annual Sweet Cherry Festival in early July. According to Iran Press, the festival is a platform to showcase the city's tourism, cultural, artistic, and economic potential.

During the Cherry Festival in Oshnavieh, a delightful tourist spot in Northwestern Iran known for its pleasant climate, agricultural products and handicrafts are showcased simultaneously.

The Sweet Cherry Festival features the exceptional performance of Traditional Iranian Kurdish music, enjoyed by tourists and locals.

Oshnavieh is located in the Central District of Oshnavieh County, West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. It boasts 14,500 hectares of lush orchards, including 820 hectares dedicated to cherry orchards.

The city produces various sweet cherries, with the clustered and black cherry varieties being the most cultivated in Oshnavieh.

Known as the cherry capital of Iran, Oshnavieh is situated near the border of Turkiye to the north and Iraq to the south. 

This year, Oshnavieh has exported 500 tons of cherries from its orchards, which yield over 40,000 tons of cherries annually.

Oshnavieh cherries possess a unique taste, aroma, and translucent color that have garnered a dedicated customer base both within and outside Iran.

Notably, the cherries have gained popularity in Iraq's Kurdistan Region.

Oshnavieh, located in northwestern Iran, is a popular tourist destination known for its stunning natural beauty and orchards.
