Tehran (IP) - In a letter to the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, the head of Iran’s Medical Council called for special attention to be paid to the online petition of the Iranian medical community in response to the US unfair sanctions.

Iran PressIran news: In his letter, Mohammad Reza Zafarqandi referred to the US unilateral withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and said the re-imposition of sanctions has led Iran to the impending health crisis, particularly amid the coronavirus outbreak.

“Having access to medical services is fundamental to health right, and the US sanctions that have restricted the access to medicine and medical equipment are in violation of the UN Charter of Human Rights and all moral principles,” Zafarqandi said.

The petition was filed in response to the US sanctions against Iran, which was signed by over 700 members of Iran’s medical society.
