Tehran (IP) - Ali-Akbar Velayati, the top advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Seyyed Ali Khamenei on foreign affairs, congratulated the people and government of Iraq over the new cabinet of the country headed by Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi.

Iran Press/Iran news: In a message issued on Saturday, Ali-Akbar Velayati wrote: "Iran and Iraq, as two friend and brother countries, have always taken the path of expanding cooperation, and we hope to see more success and victory for the people of Iraq." 

The Iraqi Parliament voted on Wednesday night to approve the list of ministerial candidates proposed by Mustafa al-Kadhimi, ending weeks of political deadlock.

Out of the 22 nominees proposed by Al-Kadhimi, the Iraqi lawmakers passed 15 ministers and rejecting five others, while postponing decision on Oil and Foreign Affairs Ministries to another time.

The Iraqi new Prime Minister is assigned to prepare the grounds for the snap parliamentary election, managing Iraq amid health and economic challenges due to Coronavirus and global drop of oil price, and submitting the 2020 budget plan to the parliament, within one year.
