Iran's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations referred to a report on military spending in various countries, called the United States as the country that advances arms race competition in the region.

Iran Press/America: Ambassador of Iran to the United Nations Majid Takhte-Ravanchi in his recent post on Twitter on Monday pointed to the world's top military spenders in 2019, according to a report from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).

"US is top spender with $732 billion, 3.4% of its GDP," he tweeted.

Iran's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN also mentioned that Saudi Arabia was the fifth-largest military spender in the world, with $61.9 billion, 8% of its GDP.

However, the Islamic Republic of Iran "is 18th with $12.6 billion, 2.3% of its GDP," he added.

Majid Takhte-Ravanchi noted that these statistics have clearly shown which country is advancing race in the region.
