Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in the Syrian capital of Damascus on Monday to meet and hold talks with Syrian officials.

Iran PressIran News: During the one-day visit to Damascus, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is scheduled to meet with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his Syrian counterpart Walid al-Muallem to discuss bilateral relations, regional developments and Syria’s political developments in the fight against terrorism.

The Spokesman of Iran’s ministry of foreign affairs Seyyed Abbas Mousavi announced on Sunday that Zarif and the Syrian officials will discuss mutual ties and recent affairs of the region.

The last time the Iranian foreign minister visited Syria was in April last year. During the visit, he met with senior Syrian officials, including the president and foreign minister, to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and developments in the region.
