Second phase of securing operation ends in Western Iraq

The second phase of the military operation of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Unit and Iraqi Army forces, known as ‘Abtal al-Nasr’, ended with the clearing of 12 districts and the inspection of 35 villages in the western province of Anbar.

Iran PressMiddle East: Al-Anbar Operations Commander Qassim Mosleh said on Sunday that the second phase of ‘Abtal al-Nasr’ Operation has led to the great achievements in securing western Iraq.

According to the Al-Anbar Operations Commander, two terrorists and 14 suspected of cooperating with terrorists were arrested and handed over to the relevant authorities.

Iraqi Popular Mobilization Unit (PMU) and army forces launched Abtal al-Nasr operation since Thursday morning 9 April in the west and southwest of al-Anbar to maintain the security of the western borders of Iraq and the desert areas in the southwestern part of al-Anbar province.

Despite the defeat of ISIS terrorist outfit in Iraq, a number of members of this terrorist group are still present in different parts of the country and are carrying out terrorist acts sporadically.
