Bandar Abbas (IP) - Ghadir-class submarine officially joined the fleet of the Iranian Navy today in Bandar Abbas, with the commander of the Iranian Navy's factories Abbas Fazelnia in attendance.

Iran Press/Iran news: Ghadir-class Iranian submarine is designed for the waters of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, and has a high capability in diving,  and maneuverability.

The submarine is 29 meters long and has the ability to fire torpedoes from two front sites, release a variety of minesweepers, carry commandos and launch missiles.

For many years, the Iranian Navy has been relying on its internal capabilities to design and build indigenous equipment and weapons, as well as a complete overhaul and reprocessing operations.

On August 31, 2016, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei stressed that increasing defensive and offensive capabilities are Iran’s inalienable right.

"In a world where bullying and imperialists powers to rule have the least morality, conscience, humanity, and no scruples about transgressing against countries and killing innocent people; developing defensive and offensive industries are completely natural because security will not be achieved as long as these powers do not feel the power of the country," the Leader said in a meeting with the Minister, officials, researchers and experts of the Ministry of Defense.
