Tehran (IP) - The president said at a cabinet meeting, "To date, there has been no shortage of beds, nurses and doctors, and even in most cities and provinces we have additional units in intensive care."

Iran Press/Iran News: Addressing a cabinet session on Wednesday, Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani said tougher measures will be taken in the country to combat Coronavirus.

The president added that government employees out of about 2,500 million today are out of work and a minority of them, of course, work in healthcare and with a large population working there. But in other parts needed in many government departments, we said that one-third of employees would work on a rotatory basis and the rest stay home.

"If we shut down places except for places that supply essential items to people, such as stores, pharmacies or places where people's livelihoods are needed, it was because people's health mattered to us.", Hassan Rouhani stated.

“We have decided to shut down a major part of the economy in recent days due to the significance of boosting the health of people,” Rouhani emphasized.

He went on saying that: "Because we have to supply water, electricity and energy and food and bring the agricultural product to market, all those who work for production and all the factories that produce the necessary food and detergents must be provided must be able to continue their work at their maximum capacity, to meet the needs of the people."

Pointing to his recent conversation with the leader of a non-permanent member of the Security Council, the President said the foreign official informed him that a plan for lifting the sanctions is going to be mooted at the UNSC.

Pointing out to efforts to contain the Coronavirus epidemic in Iran, the President added that Tehran would accept aids from any country ready to help.

"We would help any country if it asks for help, and would also receive assistance if they offer us help. On the other hand, the Foreign Ministry has made good efforts to lead the public opinion (regarding) the rejection of the sanctions," he told the cabinet. 101/212
