Tehran (IP) - Representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO) have praised the actions taken by universities and the Tehran Municipality to combat the spread and control of coronavirus.

Iran Press/Iran news: The World Health Organization's Emergency Director for the Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean, Richard Brennan and Christoph Hamelmann, it's representative in Iran, visit Sorkheh Hesar, Khaghani Resorts, and Shemiranat Health center, and hailed the efforts of Shaheed Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and the country to counter and control the coronary virus.

They accessed Iran's response to the epidemic very well, as it has been able to provide the necessary preparations within 2 to 3 weeks for this issue.

The WHO representatives also found the screening and diagnosis, segmentation and triage of patients, referral and follow-up of improved or suspected patient health status by Iranian health networks and centers very interesting, and highlighted monitoring the patient's health status by telephone, or even if needed by healthcare experts, as very important in these circumstances.

The head of Iran's Health Ministry Public Relations Office said on Tuesday that 8,042 people have been infected with coronavirus and 291 people have lost their lives to the potentially fatal virus.

Kianoush Jahanpour said that 2,731 people have recovered and been dismissed from medical centers, which shows a great increase.

Jahanpour said that 881 new cases of COVID-19 infections have been discovered since Monday, adding that unfortunately since yesterday 54 infected people have died.

He added that Tehran still stands on top of the list of infections with 2,114 cases, followed by Mazandaran and Qom with 886 and 751 cases respectively.

He said some cases do not need to be hospitalized but still need to be cared for. Special facilities have been allocated to these cases, which was welcomed by the representatives of the World Health Organization as well. These people will get back home after being completely clean of the virus.
