3.9 Richter quake hits south of Iran

Qeshm (IP) - An earthquake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale shook Qeshm Island and Bandar Abbas's surroundings in southern Iran in the early hours of Thursday.

Iran Press/ Iran News: According to the National Center of Broadband Seismic Network of Iran, the focus of the earthquake was 6 km deep, 13 km from Qeshm Island and 14 km from Bandar Abbas, Hormozgan Province.

Managing Director of Disaster Management at Hormozgan Governorate Abdul-Hamid Sa'adini said no damage has been reported by the earthquake so far, which occurred at 12:01 a.m. local time on Thursday morning.

The quake was also felt in Bandar Abbas.

Earlier on Sunday, a 5.8 magnitude earthquake had hit Port of Laft in Hormozgan Province on with no immediate reports about damage or casualties.
