Tehran (IP) - Iranian Shia cleric and head of the supreme court stated at the polling station that the best democracy is embodied in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Iran PressIran news: Head of the Iranian Supreme court Seyyed Ahmad Mortazavi Moghadam in an exclusive interview with Iran Press News Agency said: "People have been with the Islamic Revolution of Iran for the past 41 years and about 40 elections since the 1979 Islamic revolution have been held with the passionate presence of the people."

He added: "The dignity of Iran is achieved by the presence of people in the elections and this is because of Iranians insightfulness."

The Iranian Parliament, officially known as the Islamic Consultative Assembly, is a 290-seat legislative body with 207 constituencies. Its members are elected every four years, and former and current members can be re-elected.

On the other hand, the Assembly of Experts of the Leadership is a deliberative body of 88 theologians tasked with choosing the Leader of the Islamic Revolution. Members of the Assembly are elected every eight years.
