Iran, Iraq establish a committee to pursue Lt. Gen. Soleimani assassination

Tehran(IP)- Iran's Deputy Minister of Justice for Human Rights and International Affairs, Mahmoud Abbasi in a meeting with the Iraqi Judiciary and Legal delegation agreed to form a joint committee to pursue the assassination of Lt.Gen Soleimani legally.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iraqi Deputy Prosecutor General Zari Jabir Farhud and Director of Human Rights and International Cooperation of the Iraqi Ministry of Justice Kamel Amin Hashim met with Iran's Deputy Minister of Justice for Human Rights and International Affairs, Mahmoud Abbasi to deepen bilateral cooperation.

At the meeting, Abbasi stressing on continuing bilateral cooperation, noted, "Over the past years, the two nations of Iran and Iraq have had long-standing and influential relationships based on common cultural, civilizational, and religious elements that extended remarkably in legal and judicial relations.

He went on to say, "The Iranian people and government have always been alongside the Iraqi people and government in a difficult situation including the fight against terrorism and terrorist groups such as ISIS, and there has suffered high cost for this support for including the martyrdom of Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani And Abu Mahdi al-Muhanddis."

The Deputy Justice Minister noted, "This heinous crime is a dangerous act committed by the US government in a situation where martyr Soleimani was the official guest of Iraq as an independent sovereign state."

During the meeting, Iraqi Deputy Prosecutor General Zari Jabir Farhud, condoling the martyrdom of Lieutenant General Soleimani, said, "The Iraqi judiciary has started its investigation of assassinations from the very beginning and the suggestions and statements of Deputy Minister of Human Rights and International Affairs of Iranian Justice Ministry can be followed up to form a joint committee."

Further, Kamel Amin Hashim, Director General of Human Rights and International Cooperation of the Iraqi Ministry of Justice said: "The US Government's action on the assassination of Lieutenant General Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al - Muhandis, can be pursued in the European courts and Security Council. It is also a criminal act that is prosecutable under US domestic law."
