The late commander of Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani

Tehran (IP) - The 40th-day mourning ceremony of the late Iranian commander Lieutenant General Soleimani and his martyred companions will be held in Tehran on Thursday, February 13, after the evening prayers with the participation of people from all walks of life at Imam Khomeini's Mausoleum.

Iran PressIran News: The special ceremony for the late commander of Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani and his companions will be held in Kerman on February 16 and in other provinces and cities to be held on February 13 and 16 according to provincial conditions and planning.

Traditionally, the Muslim mourning period lasts 40 days.

Millions of Iranian people attended the funeral processions of the late commander of the IRGC Quds Force in several cities of Iran.

At the time, Reuters compared the people’s presence in Tehran's funeral to the historic presence of Iranians in the funeral processions of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini (RH).

Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani, who had traveled to Iraq at the official invitation of the Iraqi government, was assassinated in a US drone strike and air-raid in Baghdad on Friday 3 January  2020, along with his colleagues and companions.
