Syrian Army recapturing Saraqib in Idlib Province

The Syrian Arab Army is on the verge of capturing the strategic city of Saraqib after nearly encircling the entire area.

Iran Press/Middle East: Units of the Syrian army entered the city of Saraqib on Wednesday 5 February, which served as an outpost of terrorists from the Jebhat al-Nusra group in Idlib province.

According to a field source, the Syrian Army has captured the last few areas around the western and eastern flanks of Saraqib, leaving only one road out of the city for the jihadist rebels.

The source also added that the Syrian military is currently completing the surrounding of the town to complete recapturing. The Syrian military source also said that the drones observed few bunches of armed militants fleeing after the Syrian army approached the town. The militants were fleeing the town through the north, using the road which leads to the town of Taftanaz.

The Syrian Army is now shelling the last terrorists inside of Saraqib to force them out of the city

Saraqib is of strategic importance and is located at the intersection of the Latakia-Aleppo and Damascus-Aleppo highways. The establishment of control by the Syrian army may accelerate the defeat of the remaining terrorist groups in the north of the country. 219
