The leader of the Sadr Movement, Moqtada al-Sadr's call for holding of a huge demonstration against US presence in Iraq, has been welcomed by the Iraqi people and resistance groups.

Iran Presscommentary: Moqtada al-Sadr urged Iraqis on Tuesday (January 14th) to stage a unified, great demonstration on Friday in condemnation of the presence of US troops and their continued aggression. The call was promptly welcomed by Iraqi resistance groups.

This prompt call and welcome by resistance groups have important messages

The first message is that Iraqi groups are in favor of expelling US troops. The US has previously made great efforts to divide Iraqi groups, especially Shia groups, but assassination of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, the late commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps Quds Force, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy chief of the Popular Mobilization Forces(Al-Hashd al-Shaabi) and eight others, near Baghdad have created a consensus among these groups.

At the core of this consensus is the expulsion of US military forces from Iraq

The consensus among Iraqi groups bears another message, that is Trump's strategy of assassinating resistance generals and acting against Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) is a serious miscalculation and will cost the US dearly. The serious error will result in the expulsion of US Forces from Iraq.

The massive anti-US demonstrations are a prelude to a full withdrawal of US military forces from Iraq.

Taleb al-Hassani wrote in an analysis for the Arabic newspaper Ray Al-Youm that the million-strong rally and protest to expel the US troops from Iraq puts Washington in a quandary and thwarts the Trump administration's attempts to use ruling political groups in Iraq to its advantage.

Those who support US military presence in Iraq are very few in number.
