Palestinian journalist is confirmed blind in direct Israeli fire

A Palestinian photo-journalist lost his sight in one eye after being directly shot by a rubber bullet fired by the Israeli regime's troops, local media in Jordan reported quoting hospital sources as saying.

A few days later, dozens of journalists suffered from breathing problems after inhaling tear gas fired at them by Israeli forces during the solidarity sit-in in support of the injured photojournalist.

According to local witnesses, Israeli soldiers fired a barrage of tear gas bombs towards journalists who organized the sit-in at the northern entrance of the city of Beit Lahm in solidarity with Amarneh, The Palestine Chronicle reported.

Also in 2019, Sami Misran, a Palestinian journalist lost one eye in the targeted shooting of Israeli forces.

According to the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ),  two Palestinian journalists were killed when they were deliberately targeted by Israeli soldiers in 2018.
