Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Aragchi

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi slammed the Asian Football Confederation's recent decision of banning Iran from hosting international soccer matches as an unfair move.

Iran Press/ Iran News: Reacting to AFC's measure against Iran, Araghchi said that the Saudis did their best to misuse the killing of the innocent people in the Ukrainian passenger plane crash, and they linked it to their own aims to secure their teams' victory in the international competitions.

Calling the international competition as an event aimed at making international friendship, Araghchi also said that was why they could finally set the situation in a way that the Iranian teams would be deprived of facilities and opportunities.

Araghchi stressed that AFC officials should have resisted against Saudi Arabia's unfair move.

Araghchi's remarks came as Asian Football Confederation banned Iran from hosting international soccer matches.

Earlier on January 18, Iran' s four teams of Eteghlal, Persepolis, Sepahan and Sharh Khodro announced that they will never observe the decision against Iran together with the smear campaigns orchestrated against Iran's security.

AFC sent a letter to the Football Federation of the slamic Republic of Iran (FFIRI) telling them that they would be hosting AFC Champions League matches in a so-called neutral country out of baseless excuses out of considering Iran as an insecure country.
