Trump: US has no intention to use Military force on Iran

In response to the recent Iranian missile attack on US positions in Iraq as retaliation for assassinating Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, US President Donald Trump delivered a speech stating the US does not intend to use force, but imposes more sanctions instead.

Iran Press/America: US President Donald Trump at the beginning of his speech stated: "As long as I am the president of the United States, Iran would never have a nuclear weapon."

Regarding Iran's response to the US after the martyrdom of Lieutenant General Soleimani he further stated that no American or Iraqi soldiers were harmed last night and all soldiers are safe.

The US President noted that sanctions remain until Iran changes its behaviour. He stressed that his administration will impose new sanctions on Iran in response to the attack. He did not specify how those sanctions would be applied.

Regarding the 2015 nuclear deal, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) Trump called on the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Russia, and China to break off from the Iran nuclear deal.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the US president said he plans to ask NATO allies to "become much more involved in the Middle East process."

He touted the US economy, American energy independence and a stronger military under his leadership, adding they are accomplishments "nobody thought were possible".

In the early hours of January 8, the IRGC's aerospace unit launched a successful attack against US forces in Ain al-Assad airbase in western Iraq and another in Erbil, in the north of the country.

The attack came in response to a US terrorist drone strike days earlier that martyred one of Iran's top Generals, the former Commander of IRGC's elite Quds Force, Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei described the attack as a “slap in the face” for the Americans and Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called it a "proportionate measure" which came "in self-defense". 101/211/219
