The Iraqi people have held a funeral procession for the martyred legendary Iranian General Qasem Soleimani as well as the martyred Deputy Chief of Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF), Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, in Kadhimiya.

Iran Press/Middle East: Huge numbers of Iraqis gathered for the funeral procession of the legendary martyred Iranian General, Qasem Soleimani and the Deputy Chief of Iraq's PMF, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis in Kadhimiya, a city near, Baghdad, the capital of the country.

According to the Iran Press report, the body of the martyred Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani will be transferred to Iran after the funeral processions in Iraq.

He was awarded Iran’s highest military order, the Order of Zulfaqar, by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei for outstanding services to Islamic Iran. He became the first Iranian military official to receive the honor after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Martyred General, Soleimani has also been placed in the list of top Global Thinkers in defense and security fields, by Foreign Policy (FP) Magazine 2019.

Lieutenant General Soleimani was assassinated along with several senior members of Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) and its leader Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis in the early hours of Friday morning 3 January at Baghdad International airport.
