Terrorist groups in N. Afghanistan, a threat: Tajik security official

Tehran (IP) - Tajik National Security Secretary said Afghanistan's security was tied with the security of the regional countries, especially its neighbors.

Iran PressIran News: Speaking at the 2'nd regional Security Dialogue here in Tehran, Mohammad Ali Vatanzadeh said: "We must work together to end more than 40 years of war in Afghanistan."

Expressing concern over the growth of terrorist groups in northern Afghanistan, he described the event as a growing threat to Central Asian security and added: "Growth of these groups in northern Afghanistan increases the risk of establishing an independent regime by the groups in the region."

Vatanzadeh noted that poverty and underdevelopment are the main reasons for the success of terrorist groups in recruiting people across the region and increasing their influence in the northern provinces of Afghanistan. 207
