Zarif: Latest E3 letter to UN on missiles is a cover up

Iranian Foreign Minister in a tweet stated that the latest E3 letter to UNSG on Iran's missiles is a desperate falsehood to cover up their miserable incompetence in fulfilling a bare minimum of their own JCPOA obligations.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in his latest tweet stated that the latest three European powers (E3)' letter to United Nations Secretary-General on Iran's missiles is a desperate falsehood to cover up their miserable incompetence in fulfilling a bare minimum of their own Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) obligations.

He also noted that If E3 want a modicum of global credibility, they can begin by exerting sovereignty rather than bowing to US bullying.

Iran's Zarif remarks were in response to a letter sent by France, Germany and the United Kingdom to the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, in which the three European signatories to the Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA) made the allegation that Iran’s ballistic missile activity is “inconsistent” with the call in a council resolution endorsing the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran.

Iran's Foreign Minister completed his tweet with an image of two UNSC resolutions, with the Resolution 1929 on banning Iran's ballistic activities stamped as 'terminated', and Resolution 2231, still endorsed, stating the termination of Resolution 1929 in 2010, under Article 41 of UN Charter.

The JCPOA agreement was signed in 2015 in Vienna, obliging Tehran to limit its nuclear programme in exchange for the removal of nuclear-related international sanctions.
