Iran became a member of the executive council of the Organisation for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) on Thursday afternoon, along with Pakistan, the Philippines, and the United Arab Emirates. The four Asian countries were elected to the executive council of OPCW fro a period of two years, from 2020 to 2022.
It is worth noting that the United States and some of its allies had tried very hard to prevent Iran from being elected to the executive council of OPCW, but in the end, Washington's efforts were in vain.
