Iranian security and intelligence forces have seized a large number of black shotguns over the last year, IRIB channel 3 TV aired in a report on Sunday, revealing that such guns were used during the riots in certain cities in Iran last week.

Iran Press/Iran news: In a television program aired by IRIB channel 3, Hamzeh Paryab, a security expert says: “These black shotguns are unique. They have been manufactured in a neighboring country and were transferred to Iran (by unknown smugglers) in large quantities.”

Paryab said, “An important characteristic of these said shotguns is that its buttstock is flexible in order to be simply hidden under the users’ clothes with only 40 centimeters of length.”

The expert added, “The shotgun is light in terms of weight and can fire five case-shots in each time loaded. The shotgun is strong enough in a close shot that is capable to inflict a severe or lethal wound.”

Elsewhere, Channel 3 reported that the Ministry of Intelligence the police and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) had seized a large number of such guns during the last 18 months.

The shotguns have been seized in different provinces of Golestan, Tehran, Isfahan, Khuzestan, and Ilam. 

Base on documents shown on TV, the shotguns were used by a terrorist group in Libya.
