Judiciary spokesman underscored that the Judiciary System will continue its campaign against corruption seriously.

Iran Press/Iran news: In a weekly press conference, the Judiciary spokesman Gholamhossein Esmaeili highlighted the cooperation of all organizations to counter corruption, adding that "we believe to tackle both the corruption and the corrupt individual."

According to the Iran Press, the spokesman continued that the duty of the Judiciary System is to prosecute corrupt officials.

"We will continue with our campaign against corruption and will not be distracted, though the main part of fighting corruption is Majlis and the government's duty," he said. 

"One of the measures carried out by the Judiciary System was pardoning of the prisoners, which was different from the previous times," Esmaeili said, adding that "This time substantially more convicts were pardoned, in total 3552 individuals were pardoned it was 700 to 1000 in the previous times."

He went on saying that: "On the quality of the decision, the head of the Judiciary requested the Leader of the Islamic Revolution to pardon a number of university students, Journalists and a number of individuals convicted of security offenses and the Leader agreed with the request."

"The judiciary has a new outlook towards those who commit security and political offenses. If they change their ways (if they show remorse) they will be eligible to be pardoned, by the judiciary and the Leader," Esmaili mentioned. 212/ 205
