Iran modernizes Arak nuclear facility: AEOI

Tehran (IP)- Special Assistant to the Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) said that the country does continue its nuclear activities including the modernization of Arak research reactor.

Iran Press/ Iran News: Attending the opening ceremony of 49th Specialized Exhibition of Iran's Nuclear Industry Achievements on Saturday, Ali Asghar Zarean said that despite limitations on Iran's scientific fields such as having domestic fuel cycle for peaceful nuclear activities, the country is going forward along with some advanced countries.

He referred to the consistency of Iran's nuclear activities to produce heavy water in Arak research reactor and announced that the second and third phases of the Bushehr nuclear plant began on November 10, with the participation of the Russian contractor worth $10 billion.

The Special Assistant to the AEOI's head also announced the opening of the 'secondary circuit' sector in Arak research reactor for the next two days.

He described the development of the research reactor of Arak as an act of national pride, carried out by Iranian young experts.

49th Specialized Exhibition of Iran's Nuclear Industry Achievements began on Saturday in Saveh, Central province of Iran, and is underway until November 21.

The achievements presented at the exhibition including, fuel cycle and plant, peripheral nuclear applications, models of Bushehr's Nuclear Plant, centrifuge cascades, and etc.
