Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian in a meeting with Syrian Electricity Minister, Mohammad Zouheir Kharboutli

Iranian Energy Minister and Syrian Electricity Minister discussed the ways of expanding strategic cooperation between Syria and Iran in the field of electricity.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian, in a meeting with Syrian Electricity Minister Mohammad Zouheir Kharboutli on Wednesday, discussed the ways of boosting strategic cooperation between Tehran and Damascus in the field of electricity.

During the meeting, Ardakanian voiced Iran's readiness for further cooperation with the Syrian Electricity Minister and the promotion of the level of political cooperation and strategic relation between the two countries.

Iranian Energy Minister said that a joint workgroup will be established in the next two days to follow up on the implementation of the joint plans of Iran- Syria.

Kharboutli, for his part, stressed the need for establishing a strategic partnership between the two countries in the field of electricity and electrical industry, power requirements of cables and generation stations.

He praised the important positive role played by the Iranian companies in making the electrical system in Syria stable, giving the example of the projects carried out by the Iranian MAPNA group.

Syrian Electricity Minister has been invited by the Iranian Energy Minister to attend the international exhibition on the electricity industry which will kick off on Thursday with representatives from 36 countries in attendance.

The 19th Iran International Electricity Exhibition, which focuses exclusively on the Electrical industry, is to be held from 31 Oct. to 3 Nov. 2019 in Tehran International Permanent Fairground. The objective of this exposition is to act as a comprehensive resource for the industry, its members, prospective business visitors, and customers by providing in-depth information about the industry and the latest trends influencing its progress.

Earlier on that day, Ardakanian said that participating in international meetings is a must for reacting to the unilateralism and economic measures of the US.
