Iran Press/Middle East: During the talks, the two men expressed their determination to take advantage of existing and available capabilities and to build a full partnership between the Syrian and Iranian companies with the participation of the public and private sectors,beside adopting practical steps to achieve a quantum leap in the field of electricity sector, SANA reported.
In turn, minister Kharboutli pointed out the importance of the industrial city of Aleppo thermal power station and the need to maintain and rehabilitate the power plant. “We are working hard to bring the station back to service with a capacity to generate 1065 MW of electricity” the minister said.
Kharboutli pointed out to the importance of cooperating with Iran Power plant Repair Company (IPRC), saying that “the experience of this company will be used to support the electricity sector in Syria, and it was agreed to hold bilateral meetings between experts from both sides to examine the needs of the Syrian electricity sector.”
He noted that he called on IPRC to submit its technical bid for repair of Aleppo Thermal Power Station, within a 60 day period.
For his part, Danaiefar who doubles as an advisor to Iranian first vice-president, said Iranian companies are fully prepared to cooperate with the Syrian side in electricity-generation and power sector.
In a press statement following the talks, Danaiefar stressed the importance of electrical interconnection between Syria, Iran, Iraq and Lebanon due to its economic importance for the region.
Earlier on Tuesday, Syrian Prime Minister, Imad Khamis, met Danaiefar and the two men discussed the development of economic ties between Tehran and Damascus.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the prospects of developing economic relations and activating investment projects and partnerships between Iranian and Syria businessmen and the necessary steps to increase trade exchange.
It should also be noted that on 17 May this year, Iran's minister of roads and urban development , Abbas Akhoundi visited Syria for talks on boosting economic cooperation.
