Irans Zarif left for Azerbaijan

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has left Tehran for Baku on Tuesday, October 22 to attend the meeting of foreign ministers of the the Non-Aligned Movement.

Iran Press/ Iran news: The meeting of foreign ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement will be held on Wednesday and Thursday of this week, ahead of the 18th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Conference being held in Baku, capital city of the Azerbaijan Republic.

Iranian president Hassan Rouhani also will depart for Baku to attend the summit of the Non-Aligned Movement on Friday this week.

The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) is a forum of 120 states supporting the interests and priorities of the developing countries. It was established during the Afro-Asian conference in the Indonesia's Bandung in 1955 with the aim of negotiation on the common concerns and developing common policies in the international relations.

The first summit of the Non-Aligned Movement was held in Belgrade in 1961 with 25 countries in attendance.

Currently, 21 countries and 10 international organizations such as: The United Nations, the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation, the African Union and the Arab League are attending the NAM summits as the observer members.
