The US and Turkey started joint patrols along part of Syria border with Turkey

Syria's Foreign Minister called for the immediate withdrawal of US and Turkish forces from the country, stressing that their presence in the Syrian soil is illegal and considered as an occupation.

Iran Press/Middle East: The Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem who delivered a speech at the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Saturday, called the US and Turkey's actions in Syria as 'occupation, reported Iran press'.

He referred to the fight of the Syrian army and popular forces against the terrorists and said that history will record the Syrian nation's confrontation against terrorism.

Remarking that tens of thousands of foreign terrorists around the world poured into Syria, al-Mualem said that his country, on behalf of the world, is fighting against terrorist outfits including ISIS and Nusra Front.

The Foreign Minister also pointed out to the US sanctions against Syria and said sanction is the only weapon of the US against independent countries.

He emphasized on Syria's full support for Iran against US hostile actions, warning over the US contentious actions.

He also pointed out the presence of foreign forces in the Persian Gulf region and asserted that the security of the Persian Gulf is provided only through the region countries, not by foreign interventions.

America is backing Kurdish groups, along with other rebels and extremists, still operating against the Syrian government. The U.S. intervention in Syria began with airstrikes in September 2014 under Trump’s predecessor Barack Obama.

The United States and Turkey have started joint land and air patrols along part of Syria’s border with Turkey, but Ankara remains angry with Washington’s support for the Kurdish YPG, which has been a key US ally in Syria.
