Bandar Abbas (IP) - The impounded British-flagged oil tanker, 'Stenaimpero' is still anchored in the port of Bandar Abbas, the centre of southern Hormozgan Province across the Persian Gulf.

Iran Press/Iran News: On 19 July, the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the British oil tanker Stenaimpero has been impounded near the Strait of Hormuz.

The tanker was moving the wrong way, trying to enter the Strait of Hormuz in waters normally used by ships and tankers exiting the strait.

Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization said the British tanker had endangered the safety of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz by failing to abide by international maritime law and regulations in the waterway. 101/211/205
