Thousands of people have performed the Eid al-Adha prayer in Tehran's Imam Khomeini Mosalla.

Iran Press/Iran news: Hojjatoleslam Seyyed Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabifard led this year's Eid al-Adha prayers in Tehran's Imam Khomeini Mosalla.

Millions of Iranian worshipers have performed the Eid al-Adha prayers across Iran, celebrating one of the two most important festivals of the Islamic calendar, Iran Press reported

Eid al-Adha also called the "Festival of Sacrifice" is the second of two Islamic holidays celebrated worldwide each year (the other being Eid al-Fitr), and considered the holier of the two. It honors the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God’s command. Before Abraham could sacrifice his son, God intervened by sending a ram to be sacrificed instead.
