the Secretary of Iran’s SNSC, Ali Shamkhani (L) and French President Emmanuel Macron’s top diplomatic adviser, Emmanuel Bonne (R)

French President Emmanuel Macron’s top diplomatic adviser is planned to visit Iran and hold talks with the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) on Wednesday.

Iran Press/Iran news: The meeting between the Secretary of SNSC, Ali Shamkhani, and the French presidential envoy, Emmanuel Bonne will cover several issues, including the latest measures by the European parties to fulfill their obligations under the 2015 nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

They will also exchange views about the EU mechanism to counter US sanctions against the Islamic Republic and Tehran’s moves to reduce its JCPOA commitments, Tasnim News Agency reported citing the SNSC Secretariat.

Iran on Sunday declared the second step to reduce its commitments by ramping up the level of uranium enrichment to over 3.67 percent.

Iran maintains that the new measures are not designed to harm the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) but to save the accord by creating a balance in the commitments.

Iran's measure in surpassing the 3.67% uranium enrichment does not encounter any safeguard- and protocol-related restrictions and is related to the JCPOA.

Iran’s actions are prior to the EU’s failure in ensuring Iran’s economic interests which has forced Tehran to stop honoring certain commitments, including an unlimited rise in the stockpile of enriched uranium.

Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium recently exceeded 300 kg.

Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi said on Monday that the French President’s advisor will visit Iran in the future.
