Leader congratulates victory of Iran wrestling team

The Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Thursday congratulated Iranian freestyle wrestling team on victory in the Asian championship.

Iran Press / Iran News: Iranian freestyle wrestling team bagged seven gold and three bronze medals in Xi’an, China and became Asian champion with 220 points.

India and Kazakhstan stood second and third, with 155 and 129 points, Iran Press reported.

Behnam Ehsanpour took a gold medal in the 61kg after defeating his Chinese rival LIU Minghu 2-1 in the final match.

In the 92kg, Alireza Karimi defeated Vicky Chahar from India 11-0.

And Yadollah Mohebbi beat Chinese Deng Zhiwei 2-1 in the final match of the 125kg.

Reza Atri (57kg), Bahman Teymouri (79kg) and Reza Yazdani (97kg) had already won three gold medals in the competition’s Day 1.

Peyman Biabani in the 65kg, Younes Emami in the 70kg and Mohammad Nokhodi in 74kg also won three bronze medals.

The contest took place at the Xi’an Electronic Science and Technology University Gymnasium in China. 104
