Iran Press/Iran news: The festival centers on the role of women in entrepreneurship, charity events, poverty eradication, the environment, expanding Iranian civilization and promoting Persian language.
In the festival, the Iranian First Vice President expressed hope that educated women continue the path to development , Iran Press reported.
Es'hagh Jahangiri said, "I am glad that Professor Mirzakhani, attracted the attention of all executive agencies and scientific institutions to the subject of science."
Iran's vice President for Women and Family Affairs who was also attended in this festival said that a quarter of Iranian women have higher education.
Masoumeh Ebtekar expressed hope that the number of women in different fields of education and science will increase.
In 2017, the Iranian winner of Fields Medal, also known as the Nobel Prize of mathematics, Mirzakhani, succumbed to breast cancer at 40.
In 1994, Mirzakhani won a gold medal in the Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad, to be the first female Iranian student to have snatched a gold medal.
She obtained her BSc in mathematics from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, in 1999. Mirzakhani then moved to the US and finished a PhD from Harvard University in 2004.
On 14 July 2017, Mirzakhani died of breast cancer at the age of 40. 101/202/213
