Celebrating ancient Nowruz, Bosnian children and teenagers took part in a painting competition, using their creativity to pay tribute to the worldwide Persian tradition.

Why it matters:

Nowruz celebrations offer a chance to share the timeless values of renewal, harmony, and unity, fostering human connections across diverse communities in the world. These celebrations also help preserve and present one of humanity's oldest traditions to new generations, enhancing the cultural richness of non-Persian societies.

The big picture:

Organized by the Iranian Office of Cultural Attache in Sarajevo, the spring event featured a painting competition of creative artworks. In collaboration with Bosnian local cultural centers, including the International Children's and Youth Center, the Culture and Youth Center, and the Persian-Bosnian College, 21 selected pieces were displayed, and winners were honored in a ceremony.

Key points:

  • Participants learned about Nowruz traditions through educational clips.
  • The initiative aimed to promote cultural ties and friendship and introduce Nowruz to the younger generation.
