Iran Press/ America: The Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at a press briefing said "this is an important decision and one that will keep people on both sides of the border safe,"
Both countries agreed to close the border to non-essential travelers in March. The new agreement extends the measures to May 20.
As of Saturday, Canada has reported 30,000 cases of infection and 1,250 deaths from COVID-19. New York and Washington, two of the US states that have been hit hardest by the virus, share a border with Canada.
This is while according to a poll, more than half of Americans are dissatisfied with Trump's government performance in the fight against the spread of the Coronavirus.
The poll from the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research finds that a majority of Republicans and Democrats alike approve of how state and local governments are handling the coronavirus outbreak while the federal government is not functioning well against COVID-19 disease.
